Alexander v. ThinkTank Learning, Inc.
Case No.: RG16803572
Superior Court- County of Alameda
Attorneys: Stephanie Doria Wiley
We have filed a proposed class action lawsuit against ThinkTank Learning, Inc. on behalf of teachers, instructors, and tutors who worked for ThinkTank in California and who were paid on an hourly basis for in class (or in-person) teaching time. The Complaint alleges Defendants failed to pay teachers, instructors, and tutors for the time they are required to spend on a variety of work activities outside of class and failed to maintain and provide accurate records of all their hours worked. The Complaint also alleges that teachers, tutors, and instructors regularly worked a full day and did not receive the meal and rest breaks required by California law. The Complaint further alleges that teachers, tutors, and instructors are not reimbursed for materials they are required to purchase for the courses they teach or for travel expenses incurred when traveling between teaching locations. As a result, the Complaint alleges that Defendants owe teachers, instructors, and tutors unpaid regular and overtime wages; unreimbursed business expenses; meal and rest break penalties; penalties for record-keeping violations; penalties under the California Labor Code Private Attorneys General Act of 2004; restitution and disgorgement under Unfair Competition Law, Business and Professions Code §§ 17200 et seq; and other related penalties.
