Jessica Riggin receives the California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) Award from Daily Journal and California Lawyer Magazine
Rukin Hyland & Riggin is proud to announce that Jessica Riggin and her co-counsel received a 2019 CLAY award for their work on De La Torre v. CashCall, Inc., 5 Cal. 5th 966. In August, the California Supreme Court issued its groundbreaking decision in De La Torre, holding that an interest rate on a consumer loan may be so high as to render it unconscionable. The ruling was a victory for consumers and stands to transform the subprime/high risk non-commercial lending market in California.
The CLAY Awards acknowledge California lawyers “for achievements with a significant impact on public policy, the law, the profession, or a particular practice area.” CLAY Awards are regarded as among the most prestigious granted annually for practicing attorneys in California.
